Adoption fees reduced to $50 at Berkeley Humane this weekend—Friday through Sunday, October 6-8! Now’s the perfect time to adopt a furry friend!

help spread the word!

February 14th is Berkeley Humane’s Giving Day! Gifts up to $25,000 will be matched so we can save more animals like Bailey, who suffered years of neglect and abuse before arriving at Berkeley Humane. Despite her trauma, Bailey gives kisses, cuddles, and her trust freely—all in hope for a little bit of love in return. Will you show your love for Bailey and deserving animals like her? You can save twice as many shelter pets by donating today!

Your donation will be DOUBLED for twice the impact this #GivingTuesday!

The Aloha Dog Project—made possible by Berkeley Humane’s Hope Medical Fund—transports dogs from Kona, Hawai’i to the San Francisco Bay Area with the help of travelers. Overwhelmed by the volume of strays and surrenders, the Island’s small, overcrowded shelter faces hard decisions, and survival for these Kona dogs can depend on a ticket to the mainland. Will you save the Aloha Dogs? Your donation will be MATCHED this #GivingTuesday!!

The aPAWcalypse is coming on Saturday, October 28! This one-day adoption event features “ghosted” adoption fees (a.k.a. waived), plus wicked cute shelter animals will be dressed for the occasion (in costumes)! Don’t miss the perfect chance to add an MVP to your aPAWcalypse survival team!

Happy-Stories-2023-345-alt

This year expenses have skyrocketed just to provide basic services. All our community programs experienced their highest demand—ever. Our behavior and training classes, low-cost vaccine and spay/neuter programs, rehoming services, and free pet food distribution all served as a lifeline for local families. At the same time, shelters across the greater Bay Area and California continue to be overcrowded with animals in need. Your tax-deductible gift is desperately needed today. With your generous support, we plan to save even more lives in 2024.

Sweet, friendly, two-year-old Shortbread has big soulful eyes, and a rare, life-threatening condition. Shortbread was transported to us for recurring nasal discharge. What we suspected to be a lodged foxtail turned out to be much worse. A CT scan and rhinoscopy confirmed nasal aspergillosis—a serious and extremely rare fungal infection. Left untreated, the deadly fungus can spread to the brain. We have already invested $7,500 in Shortbread’s initial diagnosis and treatment, but Shortbread needs immediate surgery to save his life. We estimate the treatment could cost as much as $17,000. Please make a donation to save this loving and gentle animal.
