Hi, I’m Rico!

And I’m the sweetest and most lovable boy you’ll ever meet! I would be a great family dog or just a companion to one, I just want to share my love with whoever is around me! I may be an older boy, but I’m still a fetch-a-holic! But if you need to get work done or go run errands, I have no problem lazing about the house or napping until you are ready for some cuddles! Since I grew up being the only dog in the home and didn’t get a lot of opportunities to socialize, I should continue to be the only dog in the home. I am also use to having a back yard to play in, so that would be an added plus (but not a requirement)!

The Berkeley Humane difference!

Our adoption package includes vaccines, microchip, spay or neuter, flea/tick preventative, worm treatment, and heartworm preventative for dogs (at the discretion of the veterinarian). We also provide $250 worth of medical care with VCA Animal Hospitals, discounts and/or free first welcome visits at other local veterinary hospitals and optional discounted pet insurance.

All adopters receive a 30% discount off their first training class from Train the Bay. Berkeley Humane’s dog training program Train the Bay has been improving the lives of pets and their people for over 30 years and is one of the most trusted dog training programs in the Bay Area.

Be 18 years of age or older
Have valid state-issued identification
Allowed to have a pet where you live. To protect you and your pet, get your landlord's or HOA's permission in writing before you adopt
Willing and able to provide training, medical attention, and proper care for your new pet.
