One incredible day can change hundreds of lives.
Join Berkeley Humane for Bark (& Meow) Around the Block, California’s largest single-location adoption event, where more than 30 Bay Area shelters and rescue organizations will gather with hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens searching for new loving homes.
With most adoption fees waived or reduced, there has never been a better time to welcome a new companion into your family.
Admission is free, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy, including live music, delicious food and local beer, shopping with pet and community vendors, family-friendly activities, and plenty of opportunities to meet amazing adoptable animals.
Whether you’re ready to adopt, thinking about fostering, or simply want to spend the day celebrating animals and the people who care for them, your attendance helps shine a spotlight on homeless pets and supports the lifesaving work of shelters and rescues across the Bay Area.

Liberty is a gorgeous girl who came to House Rabbit Society from the San Jose Shelter. She can in with an eye injury that just needed a little time, love and eye drops to help the healing. Naturally curious, this girl loves to seek out new friends who can shower her with love and affection. For her, nothing is sweeter than a lazy afternoon filled with snuggles and ear rubs.
Liberty is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Meet Dodgeball, our sporty and outgoing boy who came to HRS from the Napa County Shelter. Dodgeball loves all physical activity, whether it is throwing a ball into his water dish or running zoomies around your feet, this little athlete loves to be active and engaged. He has ben described as #LiterallyTheGreatestBunnyEver. Check out what Dodgeball’s foster has to say about him:
“Dodgeball is incredibly curious and loves being part of whatever is happening around him. He likes to walk alongside his foster mom and has become especially interested in following our dog around. He also loves being near our kids. If someone is sitting on the floor doing a puzzle, you can almost guarantee Dodgeball will be right there in the middle of it, checking everything out.
His foster mom has also been so impressed with how clean and tidy he keeps his space and how happily he can free roam for hours. He is definitely curious — we’ve caught him investigating under all of our furniture and the baseboards a few times! — but he isn’t destructive at all and has been the perfect little house guest.
One of my favorite things about him is his morning zoomies and binkies. He gets so excited and happy, and it’s impossible not to smile watching him.
I really think Dodgeball would thrive in a home where he can freely roam and be part of the family. And based on how much he enjoys our dog, I think he may especially love a home with another animal. He’ll happily hop over to our dog, lay right next to him, or even initiate a little play session. He is such a sweet, curious, happy little guy, and we are absolutely smitten with him. ❤️”
