1–3PM: Fans can get a photo with Grumpy Cat (limited availability*), purchase Grumpy Cat books, enter a raffle for Grumpy Cat prizes, and enjoy refreshments. The MAC will also spotlight Berkeley Humane cats and kittens ready for loving homes. Proceeds from any sales and donations will benefit Berkeley Humane!

*PLEASE NOTE: Grumpy Cat's well-being is extremely important to her family and to Berkeley Humane. For this reason, Grumpy Cat's availability for photos is very limited. However, individuals or groups (up to 6 people) who RSVP and reserve a spot are guaranteed one photo with Grumpy Cat, on a first-come, first-served basis. Limit one photo per ticket. Unfortunately, no guarantees can be made to those not on the RSVP list. Participants should furnish a printed ticket and a camera device (phones accepted). Flash photography, touching, or animals in Grumpy Cat's immediate vicinity will make an even Grumpier Cat, so they are prohibited. Thank you for your understanding.

In celebration of Grumpy Cat's new book "The Grumpy Guide to Life", Grumpy Cat and Chronicle Books challenged fans across the US to the #GrumpyTownUSA contest. Being huge Grumpy Cat (and cat, and dog) fans, Berkeley Humane rallied Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates, Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, and the Berkeley Police to support our aspiration for the world's most famous cat to come to Berkeley Humane and participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for our Mobile Adoption Center. It's not every day a cat celebrity gets to help fellow furry friends find loving homes! Despite her disapproving frown, Grumpy Cat supports our cause, and will be the guest of honor at our ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Grumpy Cat is a small cat with a big frown who became an international sensation. Her two books Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book and The Grumpy Guide to Life are New York Times bestsellers. As a popular author and demotivational guru, she has more than 7 million Facebook fans, over 260,000 Twitter followers, and appeared on a variety of TV shows including American Idol, Good Morning America and the MTV Movie Awards. She recently starred in her own movie, “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.” She lives grumpily in Arizona.

The Mobile Adoption Center (MAC) is a state-of-the-art, 26' RV that's been custom built for Berkeley Humane. The MAC has modular as well as detachable kennels able to house the tiniest kittens to the brawniest mutts, and is temperature-controlled with our animals' comfort and well-being in mind. Roll-up windows allow animal lovers to view our pooches and felines from the exterior, and doors at each end of the RV allow potential adopters to walk through, take a detailed look, and engage with a potential pet. The MAC provides limitless opportunities and allows Berkeley Humane to extend our life-saving mission beyond our four walls and bring our homeless dogs and cats into East Bay communities where loving caregivers can be found and perfect matches can be made.

Berkeley Humane provides complete care for homeless animals, from rescue to rehabilitation to placement. We match animals with loving and committed adopters, strengthen the human-animal bond, and promote the humane treatment of animals.

In 2014 alone, we broke our own record and facilitated 1,030 adoptions! Despite a fire in 2010 that destroyed the majority of our facilities and left a big part of our building condemned, we have continued to grow our adoption numbers year after year. In order for us to continue our life-saving work and to provide critical resources to the community, we must soon rebuild our currently fire-damaged hospital and shelter. We are fortunate to be working with a talented team of professionals, including Noll & Tam Architects and the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program, to design the most efficient building possible. In preparation for this exciting feat, we acquired the MAC, which will serve as our only adoption center during the rebuilding period.
