About the Class
CGCU or Urban Canine Good Citizen, is the most challenging of the series. Class and testing are conducted in busy, congested city settings. It is a test of public access behaviors used in negotiating dog friendly buildings, crowds on urban sidewalks, exposure to city noises (horns, sirens, construction) and surfaces (concrete plastic, tiles, asphalt) as well as moving objects such as trains, skateboards, bikes and carts.

Class Requirements
For dogs one year or older that can demonstrate the ability to be attentive to the handler in distracting situations. Open to all dogs, mixed and purebred, that hold a CGC certificate and an AKC registration number. It is not suitable for shy, fearful, or reactive dogs. You may take the class without applying for the title but your dog must be registered with AKC in order to take the test and get the title. AKC registers purebred and mixed breed dogs.
