About the Class
Even if you don’t plan to go to Rally trials or title your dog, this class will develop precise and reliable heel and recall positions, tightening up your training in ways that will suprise you. It gives you more games and fun exercise (yes, physical exercise) to do with your dog. Dogs love the rythm and tempo of this work. We recommend you take our Rally Fundamentals course first if you have not done Rally before.
If you want to learn the Rally exercises, this class will provide nested courses made up of Novice and Intermediate signs. We will give lessons for each new exercise before running the course. Courses will be run by one team* at a time so you should expect to have some waiting time. Each team will receive coaching while doing the course.
*A team is one dog and one handler
Masks for handlers are optional
All 4 classes are live in our training center.
Class Requirements
Recommended for dogs over 6 months of age who have taken a Rally foundation class and have started on Novice exercises (Signs). Dogs should be able to do turns, fronts and finishes before taking this class.
The AKC now welcomes mixed breed dogs in all performance competitions. Dogs and handlers should be prepared to be in motion much of the time and practice outside of class. Dogs may also need to be briefly tied or crated while you do a course walk-through and should be current on all core vaccinations.
