Senior animals have spent their entire lives trusting and loving us unconditionally, making us feel special every time we walk through the doors, and being there for us when we need loyal companionship. All they ask for in return is to stand by them. Can we show them that they still matter?
Ariel, a 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel, was found wandering the streets of Oakland. When she arrived at Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society, she was suffering from several ailments that needed immediate attention. She had mammary tumors on both sides of her uterus, multiple infections, and severe dental disease.
Someone had given up on Ariel, but we didn’t. We gave her lots of love, treated her infections, and ensured she received all the surgeries she needed to live her golden years in a new loving home.
