Bark (& Meow) Around the Block

Our biggest annual adopt-a-thon and family-friendly street fair returns on Saturday, August 23, 2025!

This outdoor, free-to-attend event at 2700 Ninth St. Berkeley features hundreds of adoptable animals from shelters and rescues throughout the Bay Area, along with music, food and beer, pet and other vendors, and so much more.

This event welcomes adopters and all of our animal-loving community members to come together in support of shelter animals!

He prefers slow introductions to new people, enjoys snuggling in bed, and gives a soft bark to say hello to visitors. Harness walks are best for this little gentleman, and he’s happiest relaxing indoors with his person nearby.

Meet Oso! This handsome floof is about 2.5 yrs old and weighs 65 lbs. He has gorgeous blue eyes and his beautiful fluffy coat makes him look bigger. He`s potty trained and knows all the basic commands. He`s extremely happy and lovable too! 💙

Adam is a 4-year-old, 15 lb terrier mix with a heart of gold. After being hit by a car and breaking his back, he’s bounced back stronger than ever! While his injury left him fecal incontinent (he wears a diaper indoors), it hasn’t slowed him down one bit — he happily follows his people everywhere, zooming up and down stairs with a smile.

Shy at first, Adam quickly becomes affectionate, gently nudging his head for pets. He’s healthy, active, neutered, vaccinated, and ready to find a forever home that will love him just the way he is.

Hundreds of homeless dogs and cats get a second chance to meet their new families at this event. But for many, their journey to get here isn’t short or easy. Many need surgeries, medication, special food, time to heal, and gentle, loving care before they’re ready for adoption.
