Alumni Update: Paddington

I crouched down to meet him and he jumped up and hugged me. When I stood up, he turned around and sat on my feet.

We like to check in with our animals and see how they are doing after being adopted from Berkeley Humane!

“I wasn’t sure I was ready to adopt my first fur baby in life! But on Sunday, April 15, 2018 I found myself in Berkeley with a friend and we decided to swing by [Berkeley Humane] to see who was there. Most of the pups had been adopted already, since it was the end of the weekend, but Paddington was still there because he was an older gentleman (9 years at the time), he had chronic ear infections, a heart murmur, skin allergies, and more. [Read about Paddington’s medical journey here].

But as soon as the kind volunteers brought Paddy out to see me, his huge bear paws and floppy ears won me over. I crouched down to meet him and he jumped up and hugged me. When I stood up, he turned around and sat on my feet. My friend looked at me and said, “I don’t think you’re going home alone today!”

The rest is history. Paddy has been ear infection free since November 2018, he sees a cardiologist for his murmur, and skin allergies are under control due to diet change. He has stolen my heart and made my life so much richer. I am forever indebted to Berkeley Humane for giving him a second chance and trusting me to be his mom. Paddington is a Halloween costume contest winner, a certified therapy dog, a new big brother, and an overall happy boy.” – Shawna, adopter.
