Bonded Hearts – Creedence and Isabel’s Story

The cat's unique coat features a blend of dark and orange fur. This image highlights the importance of donor support that allowed this bonded pair to stay together and find a loving home, despite the challenges and time involved in their adoption journey.
Isabel, a four-year-old tortoiseshell cat, found her forever home with her bonded companion, thanks to Berkeley Humane’s commitment to keeping inseparable pets together.

Separating bonded animals can have serious repercussions for their mental and physical well-being. At Berkeley Humane, we are committed to keeping bonded pets together when they are surrendered to us.

Unfortunately, not all shelters can make this same commitment due to the challenge of finding adopters willing to take two animals at once. However, we strongly believe that it is always worth the effort to find a new loving family that will open their hearts and their home to both animals.

Creedence, an eleven-year-old, and Isabel, a four-year-old, were discovered together, and it was evident that they were inseparable tortoiseshell cats. Our animal care team quickly observed their deep bond, as Creedence and Isabel would eat and play together and always sleep side by side. Isabel would groom Creedence, and Creedence would curl up around Isabel at nap time.

While it took some time, we never lost faith that the perfect adopter would come along and fall in love just as we had. Eventually, our patience was rewarded when a compassionate individual expressed interest in adopting both Creedence and Isabel, ensuring they could stay together. Creedence and Isabel quickly (and happily) settled into their new loving home side by side.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the generous donations that made it possible for this bonded pair to find a loving home together, regardless of the time it took. It is highly unlikely that these two would have had the opportunity to stay together without the support of donors like you.
