Berkeley, Calif.—Just in time for the holidays, The Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society (Berkeley Humane) announced a special opportunity: adopt a kitten (or kittens!) the weekend before Christmas and volunteers will deliver the pet(s) to your home on Christmas Eve to the surprise and delight of your family.

“This time of year is about love and generosity so we wanted to do something special to help find homes for our shelter pets,” noted Jeffrey Zerwekh, Berkeley Humane’s Executive Director. “It is really unusual to have the shelter filled with kittens so late in the year but the last few months have been warm, allowing cats to continue to have more kittens very late in the year.”

Berkeley Humane has already found loving homes for over 600 kittens and there are no signs of slowing, in fact, last Monday, over 60 kittens were flown to the Bay Area to help relieve kitten overcrowding at a large municipal shelter in Southern California.

All available animals are posted at www.BerkeleyHumane.org. The adoption package includes vaccines, microchip, spay or neuter, flea/tick preventative, worm treatment, and FeLV/FIV testing (at the discretion of the veterinarian). We also provide discounts and/or free first welcome visits at local veterinary hospitals as well as optional discounted pet insurance.

A pet is a lifetime commitment, and Berkeley Humane adoptions counselors will be on-hand to help prospective adopters understand the commitment and make sure they will be ready to be a great pet parent.
