Berkeley Humane’s FIREPaws program is a critical initiative that transforms compassionate individuals into trained emergency foster caregivers, ready to step in when shelter animals must be quickly relocated due to wildfires, extreme weather, or other large-scale disasters. 

As a FIREPaws volunteer, you’ll receive expert guidance and training in animal care, emergency preparedness, and trauma-informed handling. You’ll be ready to provide the safe haven that animals need during times of crisis, helping them stay healthy and calm while freeing up shelter space for more animals in need.
