A significant slowdown in adoptions could be devastating for local shelter dogs. Before the start of the pandemic, the length of time a dog would spend at Berkeley Humane was under two weeks. Now the average stay is more than 130 days with no viable adopters in sight.
Local shelters are filled with available pets so Berkeley Humane is making it easy to find a dog, puppy, kitten, or cat! All adoption fees have been waived for this event and available pets have already received their veterinary care, vaccinations, microchip, and are ready to go home after a brief adoption counseling session.
Berkeley Humane is the only shelter in Northern California to be awarded a $10,000 grant from PEDIGREE Foundation focused on helping keep pets and families together through Berkeley Humane’s Pet Food Pantry.
As our nation’s shelters face unprecedented overcrowding, Berkeley Humane and BISSELL Pet Foundation have teamed up to do our part in taking homeless pets from kennels to couches by sponsoring reduced adoption fees of $50.
