Berkeley, Calif.— If you have had a difficult time adopting a pet recently, Bayer and Berkeley Humane are going to make it a lot easier for you to find a dog, puppy, kitten, or cat! As a presenting sponsor of Berkeley Humane’s (Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society) Bark (& Meow) Around the Block, on Saturday September 18th, 10 AM to 4 PM, Bayer will help make more than 50 pets available for in-person adoption.

Adopting a new pet has been difficult during the pandemic. Available dogs and cats have been in short supply and demand has been high. All of these animals will have been medically cleared for adoption, vaccinated, microchipped, and will be ready and available to go home after a brief adoption counseling session.

“Besides bringing joy, pets can bring real health benefits to a family,” said Kingsley Chigbu, Senior Director, Health Safety Environment and Security at Bayer. “Berkeley Humane is working hard to find new loving homes for shelter animals and Bayer is happy to help support these efforts”.

Berkeley Humane is also the premier Bay Area location for Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption effort sponsored by NBC Bay Area/Telemundo 48. With bouncy kittens and puppies, as well as older animals looking to start their next chapter, everyone will surely find the pet they are looking for on Saturday September 18th. All safety protocols, mandatory masks, and latest guidance from the City of Berkeley, County of Alameda, and CDC will be strictly enforced at this event.

“Our goal is to connect a shelter animal with a new family every 7 minutes,” stated Jeffrey Zerwekh, Executive Director at Berkeley Humane. “This will only be possible if enough people come to the event with open hearts ready to find love.”
